| Phil Savath (1946-2004) |

It saddens me deeply to report that Phil Savath, writer of "No Quarter" (#90) and "The Wedding" (#96), passed away November 3rd at his home in Vancouver, BC. He was 57. The official obituary is here.
Phil was the only person to reply to my letter in the July 2003 issue of Canadian Screenwriter. His interest in the Nightfall project and his eager willingness to talk about his experience meant a lot to me. I was so looking forward to our interview and to hearing his stories. From the things I have heard from the people who knew him, I would have enjoyed talking with him.
I realize that only a few people are following this LiveJournal, but for anyone who feels inclined to do so, donations can be made to:

When I started the Nightfall-25 Project, I never expected that it would become such an intensely personal thing with me, but it has. If I were to stop working on it tomorrow, I would still have the relationships that I've developed with many of the people I've met as a result of it, along with the good feelings I've derived from hearing how much it has meant to them to relive and recount their work on the show. But now, more than ever, I want to keep this project going. The work of people like Phil Savath, John Douglas, Stephen Katz, John Jessop, John Juliani, Don Kowalchuk, and so many others who have passed away should be remembered. Even if it's just a couple of episodes of an obscure radio drama they worked on 20 years ago.
